The shooter in the HIGHLAND PARK parade bought 5 weapons disregarding previous threaten

During the 4th of July parade in highland park, mass shooting happened leading to at least seven murders and the injury of almost 26 people.

Information was released by the authority containing the suspect information, Robert E. Crimo III, who was the primary suspect of the mass shooting.

Another piece of information released according to APnews is that the suspect has a record of threatening his family “Police said they were called to the suspect’s home in September 2019 after a family member called to say he was threatening “to kill everyone” there. Task force spokesman Christopher Covelli said police confiscated 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword, but said there was no sign he had any guns at the time.”

And despite the fact that he seems to be unstable, he was able to legally buy two high-powered rifles and three other weapons “authorities being called to his home twice in 2019 after he threatened suicide and violence, police said Tuesday.“ Said APNEWS.

A spokesman for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force Christopher Covelli defined that the weapon used in the attack was a high-powered rifle “similar to an AR-15” and he sprayed the crowd at the parade from the higher building, The suspect legally purchased the rifle used in the attack in Illinois within the past year. In all, he purchased five firearms, which were recovered by officers at his father’s home.

Police were able to identify six of the seven people murdered and according to CNN The victims are as follows:

  • 64-year-old Katherine Goldstein of Highland Park
  • 35-year-old Irina McCarthy of Highland Park
  • 37-year-old Kevin McCarthy of Highland Park
  • 63-year-old Jacquelyn Sundheim of Highland Park
  • 88-year-old Stephen Straus of Highland Park
  • 78-year-old Nicolas Toledo-Zaragoza of Morelos, Mexico
  • A seventh victim died at a hospital outside of Lake County.

Covelli Also announce according to CNN that the total number of victims increased to 45 between dead and injured.

Covelli  also released that Robert E. Crimo III, 21, may have planned the attack “for several weeks” and wore women’s clothing during the shooting to conceal his identity and his facial tattoos, and to help him leave with the crowd that was fleeing in the shooting’s wake“He blended right in with everybody else as they were running around, almost as (if) he was an innocent spectator as well,”

And when Covelli was asked why Girmo was not arrested in 2019 he answered “At that time there was no probable cause to arrest. There were no complaints that were signed by any of the victims,” and he explained that the Investigators still are trying to determine a motive for Monday’s shooting,

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker “There are no words for the kind of evil that shows up at a public celebration of freedom, hides on a roof and shoots innocent people with an assault rifle,”“It is devastating that a celebration of America was ripped apart by our uniquely American plague.”

Covelli said After the shooting, Crimo went to his mother’s house in the area, and then took off in his mother’s car which was believed to be a 2010 silver Honda , someone saw the vehicle on US 41 and called 911 to report, A North Chicago police officer then saw the vehicle, requested backup stopped the car Monday evening near Lake Forest, Illinois, and arrested Crime,

Texas back to 1925

The Texas Supreme Court issued an order enforcing the Abortion Prohibition Act of the year 1925 which was repealed due to the law Roe v. Wade in 1973.
This overturns a decision by a Harris County judge who temporarily authorized the use of abortion rights for a period of six weeks, subjecting providers of these services to fines or more penalties.
Although this successive legislation did not talk about a criminal penalty for abortion service providers in case of violation of the law, concerns began to increase among the service providers.

Texas was one of the 13 states with trigger laws to ban abortion immediately.

Paxton's office "Performing elective abortions has been a crime in Texas since (at least) 1854,”. Also added "It was a crime in 1973 when the United States Supreme Court erroneously found a right to elective abortion somewhere in the penumbras of the Constitution. And it was a crime on June 24, 2022, when that Court finally corrected its error.”.

Paxton Talk about having to file criminal charges under the law 1925

And The Center for Reproductive Rights, ACLU of Texas, American Civil Liberties Union, Whole Woman's Health, and a number of other abortion providers had requested a state district court in Houston to stop the efforts to enforce 1925. She issued a preliminary injunction on Tuesday and set arguments for July 12.

Under the law of 1925, any person who causes abortion will face a penalty of two to five years in prison while after the new triggers the penalty can start from 5 to 99 years in prison.

Marc Hearron, senior counsel at the Center for Reproductive Rights said
"These laws are confusing, unnecessary, and cruel, “Texas’s trigger ban is not scheduled to take effect for another two months, if not longer. This law from nearly one hundred years ago is banning essential health care prematurely, despite clearly being long repealed."
Texas Right to Life raised a concern about  abortion providers’ situation as they can be charged with murder under Texas homicide laws, which do "not apply to the death of an unborn child if the conduct charged is a lawful medical procedure." Which is no longer a lawful medical procedure in Texas.
John Seago, Texas Right to Life president, "We are thankful the Texas Supreme Court rescinded this temporary restraining order that abortionists were using as an excuse to continue their murderous practice....Preborn children deserve justice.”

The ban name is now known as bill 8 which gives the authority to sue doctors and any person who helps a woman to end pregnancy once the fetal cardiac activity starts.
In Dallas, the current district attorney John Creuzot is one of many big-city prosecutors in Texas who say they'll refuse to enforce criminal abortion bans. And he tweeted "I want women... to rest assured that my office will not stand in the way of them seeking the health care they need, “Bans on abortion disproportionately impact the poor, women of color, and other vulnerable populations and endanger public safety - which goes against the very core of policies I was elected to put in place.”

Julia Kaye, staff attorney at the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project said "Extremist politicians are on a crusade to force Texans into pregnancy and childbirth against their will, no matter how devastating the consequences, “We won't stop fighting to ensure that as many people as possible, for as long as possible, can access the essential reproductive health care they need.“

Politicians and jurists have differed, and the issue remains before everyone, either to go back to the law or to preserve freedoms.

New York Fights Back on Guns and Abortion After the new restriction

www.thirteen.org

New York Governor Kathy Hochul held an extraordinary plenary session to discuss new legislation to coincide with the rulings of the Supreme Court. In this session, the imposition of greater restrictions on carrying weapons in public places was discussed, and the passage of a law guaranteeing the right to abortion within the State of New York was discussed.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said “We’re not going backward,” and also said, “They may think they can change our lives with the stroke of a pen, but we have pens, too.”

gov. Kathy Hochul added on the memory of 4th July she asked the people to remember  what was being commemorated “the founding of a great country that cherished the rights of individuals, freedoms, and liberty for all.” Also added

“I am standing here to protect freedom and liberty here in the state of New York,”

The new state gun law prohibits carrying firearms in public places like subways, parks hospitals, stadiums, daycares, and Times Square.

And for private property, it is up to the owner either to allow a firearm or not. And for obtaining the permit to carry a gun the applicant will be required to have 16-hour training on the handling of guns and two hours of firing range training, an interview in person, and a written exam.

In order to amend the abortion law, the process will be a little complicated, as amending the constitution requires a number of steps that may take years, starting with approving the legislation, then calling for a general vote, then returning to the competent body to amend it if it needs an amendment, and then putting it again for a public vote.

Several organizations have begun to express their concern about the rights of some groups that are expected to undergo changes in the coming period, such as the right to same-sex marriage or consensual sexual relations.

Senator Brad Hoylman, a Manhattan Democrat said “We’re playing legislative Whac-a-Mole with the Supreme Court,” “Any time they come up with a bad idea we’ll counter it with legislation at the state level.” also added “Civil liberties are hanging in the balance,”

Robert Ortt, the Republican leader in the Senate said “Instead of addressing the root of the problem and holding violent criminals accountable, Albany politicians are preventing law-abiding New Yorkers, who have undergone permit classes, background checks, and a licensing process from exercising their constitutional right to keep and bear arms,”

Last Thursday, New York repealed the most stringent of laws. on the regulation of carrying a weapon was abandoned, as before the law was repealed, the applicant must prove that his urgent need to carry a weapon.

The next day, the Supreme Court postponed the Roe v. Wade Act to the states, more than fifty years after it was passed

Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the Senate majority leader in New York, said that Democratic leaders were adamant that New York “model what state legislatures all over this nation can do to reaffirm the rights of their residents.”“We didn’t want an open season,” then added, “In the environment that we are in, it is important to make sure that we are creating a process that respects what the Supreme Court has said but allows us to keep New Yorkers as safe as possible.”

The Republicans have expressed their objection to this

Abortion BAN

On Friday, June 24th the supreme court decided on Roe v. Wade giving a cascade of anti-abortion legislation.

13 states announced that they will take fast action within 30 days by banning the abortion right if Roe was turned down by the supreme court.

Guttmacher Institute published a report clarifying the situation of the anti-abortion legislation in the states. and they said abortion rights are still legal and will be protected in some states.

The governor of Virginia Glenn Youngkin said that his state will ban abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Other governors expressed their interest in discussing other anti-abortion legislation to add more legislation or remove old legislation.

Some states declare that they will start immediately to ban abortion others like Virginia said they will put a role and in some states, abortion will still be legal and protected.

In some states, the fate of the antiabortion law is foggy because it was protected by the Democratic governors but if the Republicans win in the upcoming midterms the path will be clear, and the probability of adding more anti-abortion legislation are high.

Several demonstrations erupted in a number of states, denouncing the decision of the Supreme Court, and a number of human rights organizations joined these demonstrations.
